Value of links in website popularity

One of the challenges of web design is to go back to old pages and put links to new articles. This is not a problem for a small website but if you have a website as large as MYNIPPON or Lindisima with thousands of pages, it can be a time-consuming exercise. But our recent experience and some research shows that adding links from old pages to new articles is extremely helpful since it makes sure that your new articles get indexed faster, get higher page ranks and visitors to old pages can follow the links to new articles. During last couple of weeks we have been updating old pages on all of our websites and we have seen a significant improvement in number of visitors as well page views per visitors (resulting in higher overall page views, ad impressions, and income).

What if you have only a small website? While it is easy to keep the website well linked but you will have a disadvantage since you can not have the power of dozens of links to each page. In that case, you must seek links from other websites. Simply remember the rules that Google has laid out for exchanging links. Work with only high-quality websites and stay away from spammers and link farms.

It is still controversial if you should buy links. As long as you check the quality of websites where your link will be provided, we see no reason why you should not speed up the process by paying for it, but a lot of crooks have hijacked this process and that seems to have created lots of problems. Paying for links is a standard practice and we instituted this policy a few years ago when we were flooded with requests for link exchange. We simply could not keep up with the emails. So when we put a nominal fee, only very serious websites contacted us, paid for the link, and it worked out well for both parties.

And finally, if you have a great website and good content, other website owners will put links to your site. So always remember - content is king!
